In this project, I created a series of the 3D object using a circular shape. I found this three-dimensional shape interesting as it can be distorted and change its form. Therefore, there are unlimited possibilities to use in different ways.
3D OBJECT
Cape Design
Inspired by a collection of the tiny wrapped wooden balls which I made, I developed a series of cape designs. For these designs, I applied the circular object and increased the scale to create the drama.
In terms of materials, as I imagined the winter garden, I have selected cashmere and denim for navy panels. I put rough stitches on herringbone stitches, fly stitches, detached loops, chain stitches and double knots and used various kinds of threads, such as poly malls, hand-dyed yarn and wool, to create mixed textual effects with my hand embroidery.

Bonsai Hat
Sample
Inspired by a bonsai I arranged, I created a hat using a magical circular pattern. I used wool fabric, poly mall and gold leaf and applied woven picot stitches.

Hanbok Sleeve
For the third piece of the 3D object project, I created the design for a Hanbok (traditional Korean costume) sleeve. This piece was displayed for the `Hanbok Contemporary Interpretation of Traditional Korean Design' exhibition in London and Korea.
I applied the victor style to the Korean tradition and created a fusion of the Korean and western fashion styles.
In the sewing process, I had a lot of experimentations with errors. As I wanted to make this project semi-transparent, the fabric choice was necessary. I chose some sheer fabrics such as organdie, crinoline and tulle. I tried to see which fabrics, sewing techniques and fabric combinations were suitable. I struggled to sew because of the sheer fabric. However, I was able to create a beautiful shape with frays.
